CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION | FCBARRIER
Forklift Impact Protection Without Taking the Line Offline
Forklift Impact Protection for high-throughput food and beverage lines helps protect machinery, columns and robot zones when every minute of downtime affects output, changeovers and delivery.

Why High-Throughput Plants Need a Different Barrier Strategy
In seasoning, ice cream and other fast-moving food operations, production runs at a tight takt time and the SKU mix can change quickly. A plant moving from 200 to 1,000 SKUs cannot treat every forklift contact as a maintenance project. A damaged steel barrier can mean cutting, welding, repainting and waiting for access to the line. That repair downtime directly reduces throughput and can put delivery schedules at risk.
| Production risk | FCBarrier response |
|---|---|
| Forklift contact with machinery, columns or robot-zone boundaries | Flexible Safety Barrier and Flexible Guardrail layouts absorb impact and help separate vehicle routes from equipment and people. |
| Repeated steel-barrier repairs interrupting a continuous line | ARMORFLEX™ polymer is designed for impact absorption and self-rebounding performance, reducing the need for frequent welding or full-section replacement. |
| A localised damaged rail requiring a large work area | Modular Barrier construction, Mortise & Tenon Quick-Install connections and removable rail sections allow a single segment to be changed with a smaller maintenance window. |
| High-energy traffic in warehouse and loading areas | Selected Heavy Duty Safety Barrier configurations are listed at up to 28,950J for an 8-tonne forklift travelling at 9.6 km/h; confirm the required configuration against the site risk assessment. |
| Corrosion and cleaning demands in food and beverage areas | The polymer safety barrier approach provides a corrosion-free, low-maintenance alternative to conventional steel protection where hygiene and service continuity matter. |
How FCBarrier Supports Forklift Accident Prevention
Self-rebounding protection around machinery and columns
Traditional steel guardrail transfers a collision into bent rails, damaged anchors and a repair callout. FCBarrier uses a flexible, energy-absorbing polymer barrier that can return toward its original shape after impact. Product data describes absorption of up to 80% of impact energy. Used as Machinery Protection, a Column Protector or a Flexible Bollard, the system helps protect vehicles, equipment and building structure while reducing accident downtime.

Local replacement instead of a full barrier rebuild
Continuous production does not remove the need for maintenance; it changes the acceptable maintenance window. With Mortise & Tenon Quick-Install assembly, Quick-Release details and removable rails, a maintenance team can isolate the affected section and replace one rail or module instead of cutting and welding a complete Steel Barrier. That modular installation approach is suited to retrofit barrier work in existing plants.

Configuration matched to mixed traffic and access points
FCBarrier can be planned as a Single Rail or Double Rail system, with Corner Barrier sections, Pedestrian Barrier runs, Warehouse Barrier Rail and CTR Series Column Protector layouts. A floor-anchored base establishes the protection line while the selected SR, DR or TR Series configuration separates forklifts, pedestrians and production assets. The indexed product views show dual-rail geometry, bolted base plates and modular rail arrangements; final spacing and impact class should be confirmed from the site layout.

Where to Use a Flexible Safety Barrier on the Production Route
- Manufacturing Plant Safety: protect production-line edges, robot zones and machine access points from vehicle impact.
- Food & Beverage Safety Barrier: create cleanable, corrosion-free separation around seasoning, ice cream and other fast-cycle processing areas.
- Forklift Safety Barrier: define vehicle routes and protect columns, conveyors and fixed equipment from forklift damage.
- Loading Dock Protection: guard transfer points where loading traffic, pedestrians and delivery schedules converge.
- Warehouse Safety Barrier and Racking Protection: add a modular Warehouse Barrier Rail or Flexible Rack Protection line as the facility expands.
When the result is measured in uninterrupted production rather than only in the cost of a replacement rail, self-rebounding protection and local module replacement have a clear operational role. The objective is to prevent vehicle and equipment damage, reduce repair cost and keep a safety upgrade from becoming the next source of downtime.
Plan the Protection Line Around Your Process
Share the forklift routes, pedestrian crossings, machinery positions, columns, loading bays and required access points with the FCBarrier team. We can review the appropriate Flexible Rack Protection, Column Protector, Single Rail or Double Rail arrangement, impact requirement and retrofit installation sequence for the site.
Protect Throughput Before the Next Impact
Build Forklift Impact Protection into the production layout so a contact can be absorbed, a local section can be serviced quickly and the line can keep moving. Request an FCBarrier application review for your plant.
